Throughout the holiday season, we’re reflecting on how we interact with nature and the environment – and resolving to make a difference. Starting the day after Thanksgiving, join us every day from 11:30 am to 12 pm to make your own resolution for nature and watch our collective commitment grow.

  • Wild Winter Animal Showcase

    Friday, November 24
    11:30 am to 12:30 pm

    What do animals do in the winter? Join us for a Nature Museum original animal show and discover how local critters survive Chicago’s long winters. Practice your hibernation skills at activity stations and get a chance to meet, touch, and feel some of our featured animals. Warm winter fun for the whole family!

    Winter Puppet Show

    Saturday, November 25
    11 am to 12 pm

    Classic bits celebrating the joys of winter. See shadow puppet snowflakes dance, a fox kit discovering an icy pond, and a child building a snowman in this charming family show.
    Presented in partnership with Jabberwocky Marionettes.

    Slightly Fractured Fairy Tales Puppet Show

    Wednesday, December 27
    11 am to 12 pm

    A series of familiar fairy tale favorites with a refreshing relief from the once-upon-a-time theme. Featured are the stories of Chicken Little, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and The Tale of Two Bad Mice (turns out they’re not so bad after all).
    Presented in partnership with the Melikin Puppet Theatre.

    Hogwash: An Improvised Tall Tale

    Thursday, December 28
    11 am to 12 pm

    An interactive nature adventure story, designed by the audience. Who knows where this story will go!
    Presented in partnership with Bughouse Theater.

    Hands-on Art Workshop

    Friday, December 29

    Saturday, December 30
    11 am to 12 pm

    A crafting workshop with two chances to participate. Create a unique piece of art celebrating nature, winter, and the new year. Participants are invited to make ornaments with air-dry clay and decorate them with stamps and textures. Take it home as a special reminder of your 2018 Resolution for Nature.
