Frank
W. Reilly Elementary School
The Department of Energy's Chicago Regional Office joined the City
of Chicago, Chicago Public Schools, ComEd, Spire Solar Chicago,
the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, the IBEW
Local 134, and others at the Frank W. Reilly School's "Solarbration,"
a celebration and dedication ceremony. The Frank W. Reilly School
is one of the largest elementary schools in the City of Chicago
and is the first of approximately 40 schools to receive a 10 kW
PV system and renewable energy curriculum. The student-led celebration
included songs, games, hands-on displays, science and business project
exhibits, a solar sprint car race, and other activities. In addition,
several universities from Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri exhibited
their full-sized solar cars and bicycles. At the ribbon cutting
ceremony, the Chicago Regional Office presented the school with
a plaque recognizing them for their leadership and their contribution

Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum
The Peggy
Notebaert Nature Museum brings nature indoors by offering interactive
learning experiences about the reversal of the Chicago River, the
life cycle of butterflies, and human interconnectivity with the
natural world. The Nature Museum has a national reputation for effective
hands-on science programs.
