Sacred Ground

For the last 20 years, Lloyd DeGrane has been photographing “lawn shrines.” These images reveal the lawn as a sacred space full of stone Madonnas, plastic flamingos, and makeshift mangers. The lawn, DeGrane suggests, serves as a public showcase for a homeowners’ aesthetics and beliefs.
