Thirsty

These 1600 bottles represent 250 gallons of treated water, the amount a typical lawn sprinkler sprays per hour. What are some of the larger affects of so much watering? In hotter areas, like the Southwest, it puts more stress on scarce water reserves. In more temperate places, like Chicago, it taps aquifers and puts more demands on aging treatment plants -- more dirty runoff to process and more potable water to pump out. Are our lawns the best place for all this H20?
