Rosendo Caro of CONANP, Mexico’s National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (Wednesday, August 25, 6:30-8pm) Join us as Rosendo Caro, Director of Mexico’s Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, explains how he coordinates monitoring and forest protection while maintaining communication and trust with the communities and interested parties within the Reserve. Mr. Caro will give an overview of contemporary issues that the Reserve faces, while offering a point of view of monarch butterfly conservation from the perspective of Mexico. As the urban gateway to nature and science, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum is proud to partner with the Consulate General of Mexico to present Sanctuary: Flight of the Majestic Monarch, and pay particular tribute to the unique cultures, heritages, and ecosystems of these two wonderful countries – Mexico and the United States. The exhibit is one of the premiere events taking place throughout Mexico 2010, a collaboration of more than 50 cultural and academic institutions in Chicago and the Midwest. Coordinated by the Consulate General of Mexico, Mexico 2010 features more than 70 diverse events to recognize and celebrate Mexico’s Independence Bicentennial and the Centennial of its Revolution.
