Green roofs are not just a good idea. They represent a consolidation
of several sciences. The team assembled for the Peggy Notebaert Nature
Museum roofs included designers, architects, horticulturalists, experts
in the growing media, planners, educators, and generous underwriters.
All of these disciplines are inventing what the Green Roof movement
will eventually become. It may change the look of your town over the
next few years.

1. Michigan
State University Green Roof Project
Will green roofs ever catch on in the United States like they have
in Europe? Several barriers to widespread acceptance exist, such as:
a lack of awareness regarding green roofs, potentially higher installation
costs, limited quantifiable data pertaining to the benefits they provide,
no technical information on how to build them, and a lack of government
incentives or tax breaks. However, all of these problems are currently
being addressed.

the Windy City Map”
